Statement of Attainment towards CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing

This course is designed to introduce learners to the recognised trade callings in the plumbing industry and provide meaningful credit towards a plumbing industry Australian apprenticeship.

The qualification may be completed post school as part of an apprenticeship. Occupational titles may include plumber, plumber and drainer, plumber and gasfitter, gasfitter, roof plumber and mechanical services plumber and outcomes will be dependent on streams undertaken within the course.

ASSESSMENT

This course is competency based and the student’s performance is assessed against prescribed industry standards. Assessment methods may include:

DUTIES AND TASKS OF A PLUMBER

  • Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians and pipefitters in installing and repairing plumbing
  • Install pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
  • Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials
  • Follow health and safety standards and comply with building codes
  • Analyse problem and identify appropriate tools and materials for repair
  • Modify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building
  • Perform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
